We have had a busy year, and I can’t believe it’s almost 2007! Our November meeting was well attended, and was both interesting and informative, as you will see when you read the meeting minutes. Each committee chair gave us an update on what is going on in their committees.

The membership committee is mailing out a letter and survey to our “potential” members now, and it will be interesting to see how they respond, and we hope to have some new members in our region soon. These members from surrounding counties had no region to join, so we are inviting them to join us!

We had a brief Board meeting on December 5^th, and discussed the January meeting plans, updating our membership application, and reviewing the last two years of treasurer’s reports. Marion and I reviewed each bank statement very carefully and made sure that everything was balanced and correct. Please review the eblast sent to all current Gulf Coast members for details. If you have any questions, please email me or any of the board members, and we will get back to you right away.

Please see the updated meeting schedule for our next meeting and the details on it. We are starting to plan our March meeting now, which will include the installation of officers.

I would like to wish each one of you and your families a happy and healthy holiday season. See you all in January.

Last weekend was the FHIMA Leadership Conference in Orlando. It was attended by the FHIMA Board of Directors and the President and President Elect of each of the Regional Associations. We had educational sessions, speakers, worked on strategic planning and did some networking.

Our next GCHIMA meeting will be on Wednesday, November 15^th. Hope to see you all there! Check our website periodically for updates on meetings, agendas, locations, and speakers.

For those who were unable to attend our May Symposium at All Children’s Hospital, it was an exciting day, both interesting and informative. We had 88 attendees for the event, and the speakers were excellent.

We are planning for a busy year for Gulf Coast with our membership growing and lots of committee members working diligently for our association. Please check our website for all meeting updates and other information periodically at www.gchima.org.

We will not be having a July GCHIMA meeting due to the FHIMA convention of which our Board members and delegates will be attending. Our next scheduled meeting will be September 20th. The location and speaker information are forthcoming.

COMMITTEES:

Budget Committee: Marion Godwin is our membership committee chairman. Her co-committee chair is Janice Kinney.

Membership Committee: Diane Lerch is our membership committee chairman and has developed an action plan for her committee along with it’s members: Iris Alcantara, Kathleen Baldwin, Marion Godwin, Suzanne Spigner, Linda Brewer, and Barbara Bermudez.

Program Committee: Suzanne Spigner is our program committee chairman and will be scheduling our bimonthly meetings for September, November, January, and March. Her committee includes Cathy Minan and Chris Aldridge.

FIRE Committee: Myra Merillo is our FIRE committee chairman and will be working with Barbara Bermudez and Esther Stobierski this year.

Legislative Committee: Karla Philippou is our legislative committee chair and is looking for some members to help with this very busy committee. There are some “hot topics” right now that need your input such as the “inclusive membership” issue
