President’s Message

By Cathy Minan, RHIT, CCS – GCHIMA President 2005-2006

Welcome to a new year with Gulf Coast!  In my first message as President, I simply must brag about the new addition to our organization…our new website, www.gchima.org.  The website was introduced to the membership at the March meeting, and I have to say, I am terribly proud of it.  The Electronic Task Force Committee has worked very hard on this project.  The first edition has been quite successful. We have already had almost 19,000 hits.  If you haven’t visited the website, please check it out and provide us with your feedback.  You will find all kinds of information as we continue to improve upon its function for our organization.  Information about future meetings, as well as valuable links, contact information, local job postings, and registration forms…a multitude of valuable tools are now available at the touch of a key.

As I assume my new role as President, I ask for your help to make this association the best it can be. Your participation in GCHIMA is the key to our success. We are one of the strongest local HIM associations in Florida and we are very proud of our distinction.  Currently, we are processing the membership registrations for the 2005-2006 year.  If you have not yet registered, please consider joining our dynamic team and send in your 2005-2006 registration form today.  To avoid a late fee, make sure your registration is received by May 15, 2005.  And Students please remember….your membership is free!

Before I close, I would also like to thank everyone who has volunteered to serve on a committee for this upcoming year.  You are an important part of this association.  We truly appreciate all of the volunteers that put so many hours into making GCHIMA a successful organization. I look forward to working with each of you as the President of GCHIMA and hope that we can encourage others to consider the opportunities to get involved with GCHIMA. Please contact me (or any of the other GCHIMA Officers) if you would be interested in joining our dynamic team of committee members!
